Oughterard Angling Club Interprovincial Team401 viewsOughterard Anglers Inter-Provincial Success
On 5th October last Oughterard Angler’s John Deacy, Michael Faherty, Eoin Kelly and Brian Ferguson competed in the Inter-Provincial Lakes Competition, which took place in Donegal’s Rosses, representing both the club and the province. As a club team, they had won the Connacht Inter-Club Cup last May in Loughrea and so, went forward as Connacht’s club team in the national competition’s team event. Having also won the Connacht Cup himself, Mike Faherty was given the honour of captaining the Connacht team.
The Connacht lads fished well overall and despite not having a full team finished a very respectable, and close, second behind Ulster in the event. We are doubly delighted to report that the Oughterard lads won the team event for the first time in the club’s history. This was a great way to finish off a very successful season for the club. They received a perpetual shield as well as individual crystal trophies.
Well done to the 4 lads for representing their Club and Province in fine style.
